Gassier Reaffirms Its Commitment to French Sommellerie for the 7th Edition<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A dedicated supporter of the next generation of sommeliers, Maison Gassier confirms in 2026 its commitment<\/a> to education and excellence by organizing the 7th edition of the Challenge Gassier en Provence for Sommelier Students<\/em>. This year, Maison Gassier is launching a unique partnership with Coravin<\/a>, the global leader in wine-by-the-glass technology, to further enhance the competition experience.<\/p>\n

The final rounds will take place on Monday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the heart of the estate in Puyloubier, at the foot of the Sainte-Victoire mountain.<\/p>\n

An Initiative Dedicated to Tomorrow\u2019s Sommeliers<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Created by Maison Gassier in collaboration with ASAMP<\/a> (Alpes Marseille Provence Sommellerie Association) and ASF<\/a> (Association of Sommelier Educators), the Challenge Gassier en Provence<\/em> has, year after year, established itself as a benchmark event for students pursuing a Sommelier Specialization Certificate.<\/p>\n

Open to all French training centers offering this specialization, the competition highlights the diversity of Provence\u2019s terroirs, the identity of regional wines, and more specifically gastronomic ros\u00e9s\u2014true emblems of the Sainte-Victoire Valley vineyard, both in France and internationally.<\/p>\n

Through this Challenge, Maison Gassier pursues a clear ambition: to support the next generation<\/a> of wine professionals, promote their expertise, and contribute to the visibility of Provence wines among tomorrow\u2019s key opinion leaders.<\/p>\n

A Journey Designed to Reveal Talent<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

For this 7th edition, the Challenge brings together 14 schools, representing 109 candidates compared to 79 in the previous edition, confirming the event\u2019s growing momentum on a national scale.<\/p>\n

The competition follows a progressive selection process designed to guide candidates through each stage and reveal the full extent of their skills.<\/p>\n

The first round, conducted as an online questionnaire, evaluates the students\u2019 theoretical knowledge. It covers Provence wines, the diversity of their terroirs, grape varieties, regional gastronomy, and Proven\u00e7al culture, offering a comprehensive and structured introduction to the competition.<\/p>\n

Selected candidates then move on to a second round: a remote blind tasting evaluated by a panel of industry professionals. This stage focuses on sensory analysis, precision of vocabulary, accuracy of reasoning, and clarity of expression\u2014key skills for any sommelier.<\/p>\n

The semi-finals and final, held at the Maison Gassier vineyard, mark the culmination of the Challenge. Organized into four complementary workshops, these tests immerse candidates in real-life professional situations: guided tastings, technical skills, food and wine pairings, sales exercises, and role-playing scenarios.<\/p>\n

As part of the partnership with Coravin<\/a>, an exclusive 15-minute Masterclass will also be held on Monday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m., following the day\u2019s events, for the 10 finalists\u2014offering a demonstration and discussion focused on innovation in wine service.<\/p>\n

Beyond technical knowledge, the entire process evaluates each candidate\u2019s presence, discipline, adaptability, and professional potential, reflecting the standards and values of contemporary sommellerie.<\/p>\n

An Exclusive Experience for the Winners<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The 2026 edition once again celebrates excellence with the presence of two exceptional mentors:<\/p>\n

Honorary Patron: Romain Iltis<\/a><\/strong>, Best Sommelier of France 2012 and Meilleur Ouvrier de France 2015. A renowned figure on both the national and international stage, Romain Iltis embodies a modern vision of sommellerie, combining precision, knowledge-sharing, and a passion for the product.<\/p>\n

Chef Patron: Mathias Dandine<\/strong>, Michelin-starred chef of the gastronomic restaurant La Magdeleine<\/a>. A loyal supporter of the Challenge for the fifth consecutive year, he offers a sincere cuisine deeply rooted in Proven\u00e7al terroir. A true wine enthusiast and advocate of harmonious pairings, he supports the Challenge with dedication and enthusiasm.<\/p>\n
